Bringing subsurface muon insights to the UK Military Engineering Showcase

Stand briefings will cover how muon imaging can add structural and subsurface information for military engineers.

Geoptic will join industry representatives, international delegates and military engineers at the UK Military Engineering Showcase at the Royal Engineers Museum in Chatham on 5 and 6 October 2026.

At its stand, Geoptic will host briefings on how muon imaging can add information when military engineers need to assess ground or structures that are difficult to inspect directly.

Subsurface information for military engineering

Muon imaging measures naturally occurring cosmic-ray muons as they pass through structures and ground. The measurements can provide information about density variations and hidden conditions, adding another source of evidence alongside existing surveys and inspections.

Muon imaging can provide diagnostic information about structural and subsurface conditions, helping military engineers build a clearer picture of areas they cannot inspect directly.

Event programme

Monday evening will feature industry sessions and networking. Tuesday's programme includes presentations and capability demonstrations for international delegates and UK military attendees.

Geoptic looks forward to meeting visitors and discussing where muon imaging could support their engineering challenges. Delegates are welcome to visit the stand for a briefing and conversation.
