The Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer who is eager to get hands-on with exciting and innovative technology. You will play a key role in designing, prototyping and refining the mechanical systems that make our advanced muon sensors work. Working closely with experts in physics, electronics and software, you will see your ideas progress from concept through to practical application.

Your Impact
- Design and model mechanical parts, assemblies and complete products using CAD tools
- Build and test prototypes, learning directly from their real-world performance
- Produce detailed technical drawings and liaise with suppliers to turn designs into reality
- Support the assembly, validation and documentation of hardware systems
- Create and maintain bills of materials and project records
- Take ownership of design projects and contribute to broader engineering programmes
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, design efficiency and innovation
- Work closely with other disciplines across Geoptic
- Ensure all designs meet safety, regulatory and quality requirements
About You
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- A genuine interest in design, system integration and problem solving
- Proficient in CAD software design and keen to develop new skills and techniques
- Practical and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively in a small, innovative team
Further Details
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9:00 to 17:30
Location: The position is based in the main office and laboratories near South Warnborough (RG29). Off-site national and international travel may be required for customer meetings and scientific trials. Some overnight working supporting instrumentation deployments may be also required. Additional payments and flexible working hours are also offered for working on overnight muon projects.
